 Consultation

We have developed and use a process that assists the church well beyond the typical consultation.

A consultant’s role in many cases is to come to your church, spend a short time with you evaluating and assessing the ministry, facilities, and opportunities of your church.

Most consultants then write a report revealing his/her findings and suggestions. While the consultants report is beneficial to the church, often there is no assistance in how to implement a process to reach your church goals or to achieve modifications and adjustments revealed in the consultants evaluation.

SonC.A.R.E. Ministries provides not only the objective perspective of a consultant, but also a person or persons with experience to walk with your church through the strategy planning, development, and implementation process needed or desired.

We strive to go beyond “comprehensive” and assist the church with strategy  development  and implementation coaching.

Consultant/Coach Process

With twelve years of church consulting and coaching experience George Yates has worked with churches of varying size, ethnic and social status across the U.S. In many church and consultant relationships the consultant makes one or two visits to the church, writes an assessment and leaves it with the Pastor or church leadership.  The church is left to accept his report and act on it or place it on a shelf. The missing piece is someone to assist the Pastor and coach the church leadership through a strategy development and implementation process. SonC.A.R.E. closes this gap and fills the missing piece of the process. We walk beside you every step of the way, through the entire process.

Initial pre-visit research:

SonC.A.R.E. Ministries with the help of the church will gather historical information about the church. This information includes a brief history of the church, church calendar, phone interviews with staff and key leaders, resident membership number, ten most recent years of records for baptisms, Sunday School (Bible study), Worship services attendance, and discipleship opportunities, budget and financial statements. We will also acquire a demographic study for a five mile radius of your church. After analyzing this data, we will prepare a presentation for the Pastor and church leadership during our first visit to your location. SonC.A.R.E. Ministries will also recommend a church assessment to be completed by a pre-determined number of church members.

Initial visit:

The initial visit to your campus will be two to three days to meet the staff and leadership, conduct further interviews with leadership and various members of the congregation, drive through the community, conduct an assessment of the church, and observe Sunday morning activities. Following this we will present an overview of our findings to Pastor, staff, and key leaders. At this presentation meeting the need and requirements for a Strategy Planning Team (SPT) and a Prayer Team (PT) will be discussed.

Post-visit follow-up:

Following the initial visit SonC.A.R.E. Ministries will write a comprehensive report on the findings of the study and visit. The Pastor and George Yates will communicate frequently over the following four weeks to establish the SPT and PT as quickly as possible. The persons to serve on these teams need to be selected, contacted, and agree to serve before the next visit, 30 days from the initial visit. On the second visit to the church, SonC.A.R.E. Ministries will present a verbal report to the church.

Strategy Planning Team Meetings:

The SPT will meet with George Yates for 4-6 months during the scheduled monthly visits. The SPT will take a closer look at and evaluate the community and church demographics, church values, beliefs, purpose and mission. Once a clear purpose and mission are established the SPT will begin to develop strategies to empower the congregation and leaders to move forward in becoming a stronger New Testament Church fulfilling God’s purpose for this particular congregation.

Implementation Team (IT):

As the SPT closes down this initial series of meetings the Pastor will work with George Yates to establish an Implementation team from the church members. The Implementation team will meet with George Yates for 3-5 months (on his scheduled visits or via web-conferencing) in building an implementation process for the strategies developed by the SPT. The Implementation team will also be responsible for leading the church in implementing the strategies as designed by the SPT and IT. These strategies could include, new ministries, change of focus in certain areas, new ways to accomplish the Great Commission, build disciples, and facilities improvement.

PrayerTeam (PT):

The prayer team is recruited the first month following the initial visit and meets regularly to pray for the SPT, the IT, and the church moving forward. The prayer team will be kept apprised of the progress of each of the other teams so they can pray for and lead the church to pray for continued forward movement, unity of spirit, and God’s direction.
